Our Farm

The Wilmes Family has been working this farm since the 1930’s.
Agnes and her late husband, Wilfried, raised all five of their children in the red farm house that is now part of the Wilmes Hop Farms wedding and event venue.
The one and a half acres of landscaped grounds surrounding the house and special events building are adjacent to 322 acres of the family’s working farm which includes the hop fields.
Mother and daughter team, Agnes Wilmes and Angie (Wilmes) Burden, have created a remarkable event venue at the home farm. This makes for a unique, charming spot for weddings, family celebrations, company picnics or corporate events.
As this venue is next to our working hop farm, please note that hops are in season all summer. By June they are 8-10' high and by August they reach the top of the trellis. Harvest begins in early September.
Hops
Hop plants are planted in rows about six to eight feet apart. Each spring the roots send forth new bines that are started up strings attached from the ground to an overhead trellis. The hops we farm are used for brewing beer. We grow both Nugget and Mt. Hood; each variety produces a different flavor. The Nugget is considered quite heavy and herbal, while the Hood is aromatic with a refined, spicy aroma.
